how do these ratings translate?

My tactics rating is 1650. My ELO rating (using the positions) is 1600, but my rating on here for games never gets above 1200. It seems like there is a big disconnect. Has anyone else experienced this?
1200 seems like a very mediocre to below average player. 1600 seems like a strong player. I have no idea where I am.

Ratings aren't an objective measure like how fast someone runs or high someone jumps. So 1200 here isn't the same as 1200 on a different website, and as you noticed even on the same website different categories make a difference.

Tactics ratings here tend to be around 400 points higher than the game ratings.

1200 may seem bad to you, but I bet there are a lot of players at that rating who have played for a few years and done some light studying. They have openings they like to play, and know tactics like forks and pins. It's not a rating you're going to be better than automatically happy.png
