What do you have to do to become a staff member?

Ask the staff directly via Help & Support

If you have a skill this site needs, you might get hired.

I suppose first you have to know if they are hiring, then probably submit a curriculum and be qualified, just like any job.

do you get paid for it?

I don't think the staff members work for free.

I'm guessing but I think you'll find that they only hire adults i.e. 18+.

Isn't that the law?

Anyway, if you want to work for free, better contribute to something like wikipedia, and you'll be contributing a lot more to the world.

You could start by polishing shoes or washing cars.

They were looking for translaters not so long ago..so they do advertise from time to time. But the simple answer is obvious

It would be a good field to get into and Chess.com would look good on any resume!

Ye you could be a kick ass bossman moderator.  Like Zuess wielding his lightning bolt on any unsuspecting chess head.

Just send a message to erik. Or befriend him or play a game of chess with him and talk to him about it. He's a great guy and he loves his community. And he is the owner of this site.

Only don't jest with him, he might believe it.

Sound advice. I should have included it.
