How do you play so smoothly/quickly?

Hello. You might think that it's a joke but my play is clumsy and not that fast. For instance someone can checkmate with 2 seconds left and i don't think it's due to pre moves because you should take into account opponent's moves too. It's very fascinating for me. I used to play by drag and drop but gave up because sometimes i slip. I play by clicks now but i lose precious milliseconds with it and sometimes square isn't clicked properly. It looks like it was clicked but piece doesn't want to move. I understand that it's another secret technique that shouldn't be revealed to such suckers like me but i'm begging you to help me. Maybe i need to change my computer mouse and straighten my hands? I'm serious.

get a new mouse, connection matters more though i would guess .
