How do you prepare yourself for a chess game?

I want to know how should I prepare myself for a chess game, and Im not talking about the chess itself.

Like any other sport activite, there are some routines a athlete should do, so:

what kind of food do you eat, how do you exercise your body, mind and soul before a chess game on chess.com or elsewhere?

Three pints of Guinness Stout:

I'd like to exercise but I'm too lazy. So my preparation for a game is eating lasagna the day before and laughing at the simpsons.

No, seriously. What matters is what you do! Clean body clean mind. Feed your body and your mind with only the best, so you can focus.

Here is some effective pre-game preparation.  I call it "the terminator."  First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "naked terminator traveling through time" pose.  With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing myself as Arnold and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through the game as an emotionless calculation machine.

My pregame meal is fresh apple slices dipped in peanut butter with cold water.  I will definitely have to try the Terminator thing, too, though.  That is excellent.

Seriously, though, I try hard to avoid sugar right before I play.  Wrecks my concentration badly.

Thank you all for helping me, more answers will be greatly appreciated.

I selected the best advices, and I will implement them as my daily routine, as I try to play everyday:

After waking up I will do the naked terminator routine, to help me prepare mental and spiritually.

I will lunch lasagna, apple slices with peanut butter and cold water every day.

During the games I will mostly drink Guiness stout and sleep.

I will test this daily routine for 6 months, in order to get the full benefits, and post the results.

Make sure to not drink any alcohol.

Those foods will more than likely boost your performance. But don't listen to the guys telling you to drink guinness stout, it won't work. Not to mention, the above poster can't even spell "guinness stout" properly.

What to shave second though?

I like to arrive about an hour early to tournaments. Gives me time to cool down and settle in before an intense game.

Reg just come over to our college. You'll be so overwhemled you barely have any time to fit in chess :) so no worries about it

Another way to prepare is to blast a song straight for an hr. and chewing gum. It focuses my attention for a while.

although you shouldnt make a habit of my method. Do you want cavities and failing earlobes? Tongue Out

I stop all chess activity 5 days before the tournament. Prior to that, the last thing I do are mating patterns without a queen.

I relax for 5 days and then 2 days before the tournament go to the driving range and spank whitey for a few hours.

Careful, you'll go blind.
