Sorry for the late reply. I am not 11 years old, I am 12. I live in ON Canada, Collingwood. I guess I meant something else, I was not really paying attention to what I said. I have been online enough to see people say these statements and get use to it. I learned grammar from playing online. Literally, I use to have friends that teach me on this now old and horrible game called ROBLOX. It was chill. I am not trying to be cock or arrogant by any means, I apologize if I am insulting or offending anyone. I just wish to know how far I can get. I am the best in my school, and in my town. (Collingwood) in 26th place in the best of Ontario. I passed regionals (easily) and moved on to provincials where I used to be an average person with a bit of talent, I got crushed. Provincials are on Apr 17th and Regionals is on Apr 9th this year.

I do apologize if I acted like an old wize grandpa or something. I just wish to get my question answered. I want to have alot of money to satisfy the poor or most of them I meet, I hope I can do that if I become a great chess player and second of all.. I love chess, its a thing that I got into when my school introduced it to me. You gotta admit though, 3 months and I almost beated a person with around 1700 FIDE Rating, or I think so. My chess teacher is average 1300 who has a son who plays chess that said he has a 1600-1700 fide rating. I have a tournament on Wed, wish me luck.

I guess I am an average player, but stick to the topic I just want my question answered.

Edit: I was probably just lucky that I almost beat that guy, aka my friend. He was suprised when I did a move that he though I wouldn't normally know. I was very happy! ^^ ;D

@Jengaias

Hi, I believe I said in the post I do read books. These are the books I have in my town.

-Basic EndGame Strategy

-Reasses Your Chess

-The Mammoth Chess Book

-Weapons of Chess

-5334 Tactics, Combinations and Problems.

-Winning with Reverse Chess Strategy (Side Thing) is that good enough?

IRosed

@CuddlyMonkey

Strategy is one of the few things used in chess games, you can't really win without it, you need strategy to win, you can even win against an army with 10000 more people than you with strategy. Its the same with chess, every game I am sure eveyroen developes a strategy, so I am practicing to develope and how to find better plans, and strategys. I think you know what strategys are, but I am practicing it so I can see how to plan better. Tactics and Strategy are a part of the middlegame I think.

IRosed

These were recommended, and all of them are about made by Masters. Ignore the winning with reverse chess strategy.

I obviously know lectures and videos won't help me on my game unless I actually apply it. Winning with reverse chess strategy is a random one I picked.

Do tell me good chess books please.

IRosed

Does anyone know how you actually analyze a game? It really just takes me about 10 minutes to look at the moves, and say OH, I SEE WHY HE DID THIS! BECAUSE OF THIS THEN THAT AND THEN THIS THEN #.

Not one of these posts answer the question, except for Jengaias's a bit.

That is because you've asked the wrong questions. I'll answer your questions as best as I can. You won't find anything useful:

  1. How far could I get? Become the greatest chess player of all time.
  2. How far could I get with this training schedule? Become the greatest chess player of all time.
  3. In 6 years what do you think my progress will be? Approximately one hundred rating points.
  4. Am I really doing it right? No.

I don't know the numbers, but I can tell you that generally speaking Grandmasters are not wealthy people.

You have two of the most important things for chess improvement: youth and love of chess.

I'm sure you could be a grandmaster. Just keep in mind that possible and definite are often very different Wink

For the most useful training and experience you need to spend some money on chess e.g. for books, coaches, and tournaments. Without these things you can sill improve a lot, but not as much as you could if you had some or all of them.

Good luck!

You are 11 and only been playing for three months you are actually doing quite well.

See where you are in a couple of years and a more accurate assessment can be made of your potential, it's too soon to tell right now.

karelkamelensprong

If you are this good at age 12, you can probably get pretty far Wink

I would advice you to focus on:

- playing long time control games and analyzing them

- tactics puzzles

If you like studying openings or endgames, go ahead and have fun. But beyond knowing some basics, they are probably not the best use of your time now.

Instructional videos can be useful, but make sure that you are taking notes, have a board ready to put the positions on and frequently pause and try to come up with your own ideas/solutions.

Good luck!

Meh your schelude is not bad. But study parts of the game for longer time example: 1-3 months on endgame 1-3 months on middlegame 1-3 months on openings. 1-3 months on tactics. That is the way i got to 1700+ in  6-8 months :D

If you think that with lectures and videos you can learn chess , you are fooling yourself.

You need books.Very carefully chosen  good books , a real board , focus and a lot of determination , otherwise you better forget it.

Your program is better than nothing but far from being even a slightly good one.

Add some good prayers. With a program like that , your only hope is that God exists.

i agree with what you say. another example is:  You want to be a professional pilot. But you want to be a professional pilot with just watching videos.  :D.

One can get really far with just videos, tactics and simply playing, at least to 1800 (on the chess.com glicko rating system), but to get to a GM and even to a NM level you need lots of books and talent.

I have a real chess board.

Very well said jengaias. I know multiple IMs and NMs, and the lot of them aren't living grand lives considering the amount of time they put into the game. A decent house, a few cats, maybe a family, but no mansions for sure. Meanwhile, if you put those 10000 hours of studying recommended by the Polgars into another subject, such as medical sciences or law, you'll most likely have a much better shot at living at a higher expense.

That being said, money can't always buy happiness. If you love chess so much as to spend countless days of studying, sleepless nights, etc, go with it and good luck!
