It's a little better than 739 and a little worse than 741.

740 is a beginner, but it shows the fact you played hundreds of chess games to get it.  Chess.com levels:

New to chess: 400

Beginner: 800

Intermediate: 1200

Advanced: 1600

Expert: 2000

(These are actually the previous years levels but it is changed last year. )

Nah, I'd say more like...

 - Just learned the moves 1 hour ago:  Below zero
 - Played 100 games and has only known the game 1 month:  Below 500
 - Learned a few tips from videos or reading and played a few 100 more games, has only known the game a few months: below 1000

If there are only 3 categories (beginner, intermediate, advanced) then the rating ranges will have to be very wide.

If chess progression is simply a log base 2 progression (each category has half the rating range of the previous one) then...

chess.com ratings:
100-1860 is beginner
1860-2740 is intermediate
2740-3200 is advanced

---

OTB ratings:

500-1820 is beginner
1820-2480 is intermediate
2480-2800 is advanced

There is no consistency I feel 🤔 I’m not good but enjoy the game. I’ve been up to 1400 and I’m currently hovering 1100.

Today I played an 898 rated player and was utterly destroyed! No way was this a beginner

Good for someone beginning.
