How many chess sets do you have?

OK, including the large folders, about a dozen in good form without repeating boards, and some travel sets. A few are crazy small and pretty useless. Twenty? A few less?

Let's see, in the Philippines I have 2, in the United States I have...4 more I think. No actually 5, the magnetic one that I mess with when I'm traveling. So 2 + 4 and my traveling set that I got in Mandaluyong, so that's 7 sets total.
In the months past, I needed these chess sets because some of my friends didn't have any! But now recently more of them started bringing a set, so now it seems like that I only need to bring 1 with me now when I go to the cafe we go to on Thursday, but on our Wednesday meeting I'll bring at least 2. (because it's a different location, where there's more players.) There was a time when I had 3 sets and it wasn't enough! Those are the really fun nights!

The Sheffield, The Official Staunton, The Ebay Mystery Staunton, the 3.75 collectors (2) HOS plastic, the moderne, the 3.5" HOS tournament, the big folder, the Russian folder, the little folder (xtra board), the Drueke, and four small (7' and 12") magnetics. Not so many really. We don't count the baseball set or the wallet sets. And the little hollow plastic analysis set that was free? OK it came with a board I "needed". Oh and the bone (I was hoping ivory) hand carved Chinese set. Way less than twenty.

I think I have another chess set made from marble somewhere, it's bulky, and hard to play on as the squares are small. Unless if it was given away!

I saw a beautiful ivory chess set in Singapore for about $600; but you can't bring ivory into Australia; the only way to buy an ivory set in Oz is to buy an antique one that is already here. TerryMills
