Don't mean to sound like a bloody lawyer, but it depends...If you play a fair amount in a short time, it will take less than for someone who only plays once a day (or less).  And of course, how do you define "good representation" ?    Sorry I wasn't much help, but practically speaking if you aren't getting wild rating swings when you win or lose, you're getting close.  The chess.com rating is only good for finding you an able opponent anyway.  It has only the vaguest relationship to what your FIDE or national chess federation's ratings might be.

The player profile used to show your RD, which would give you a pretty good indication of the accuracy of your rating... your RD equates to one standard deviation, so with a published rating of 1500 and an RD of 25, you would have a 68% chance of having a true playing strength between 1475 and 1525 (rating +/- one standard deviation), and a 95% chance of having a true playing strength between 1450 and 1550 (rating +/- two standard deviations).

... but that info has recently been removed from our profiles, for some reason.
