How many moves should you mate on easy?

Hi everyone!

I'm just starting. I can beat the chess.com computer on Easy most of the time, but there's a big jump in difficulty (for me) between Easy and Medium. I think I need to work on beating Easy more efficiently. It usually takes me between 35-40 moves to mate. What do you think an ideal number of moves should be?

It just depends on the position.  Winning in a certain number of moves isn't an indication of chess strength.  Some positions you are totally winning, with zero worries and easy moves, but it will take 20, 30, 40, or more moves to finally checkmate.

One way to be faster though is to go for checkmate when you can bring, for example, 3 attackers against their king vs 1 or no defenders.  Don't capture a lot of unnecessary pieces until it's 10 vs none.

And if you want to get better in general, forget playing engines and stick to playing people.

Thank you!
