@Indirect I am SO sorry for asking a chess question in a CHESS forum. Please find it in your kind soul to forgive me for my heinous deed. I will forever be in your debt.

Funny enough I saw a posting on craigslist NYC saying basically the same. $50 per hour and listed himself as +2000 rating in popular online app.

Isn't that illegal?

He's not misrepresenting himself, since he doesn't actually claim any official titles. But to be honest I don't know.

But what really made me laugh was its juxtaposition. This is NYC so his ad is surrounded by bona fide IMs, FMs, established camps, historical clubs, USCF and Fide Certified instructors  and classes...etc lol

As a fairly strong player (don't look at my chess.com rating, engine users make it meaningless. I actually estimate my strength to be about 2300 FIDE atm...), I have decided to try and make some money on the side by coaching. How much do you think I, as a 2000+ player, albeit untitled, should charge for my services? Is it even legal for me, a 16 year old white male, to coach anyone? Thanks in advance!

Accusations of cheating!

On the side of what?

In your champ thread, you were black.  In this thread you're white.  The bunny sees all.  And yes, I'm a real bunny.

Since you're 2300, go play otb & get a title.  1 step/beep at a time.

200$ hour easy. 275$ if you can't say "no I don't have time" to a lot of people

Hey Beep, I got you covered on this one. Go ahead and post the roster of your students and I will start a Go Fund Me for your good deeds on the chess world. Let's shoot for an initial funding of let's say $1,000,000 for the first month. Since it's global, hopefully 10 Million dollars by years end. I'm very confident that you will produce the best players rated 1000 or below.

I think you are the one who should pay people so they allow you to "teach" them.

I think 100 bucks an hour is a good deal.

In all honesty beep beep, I remember a game in which you beat me in two moves. As I am rated 27000 myself you must be a God of chess to be soo amazing.

MAKE THAT $100

EVERY FIFTEEN MIUNUITES...

WHEN YOU TEACH A GRANDMASTER.

If your not tutoring Carlsen or a GM, then up the price to maybe $150 every 15 mins, as GMs have slightly less to learn from you, as they know the very very basics of chess. (But no more)

Dude!! Stop it! My stomach hurts from laughing! 😂😂😂

Hey BeepBeep, after I crushed you in the two blitz games yesterday, I think you should pay others for the privilege of their attention.

150 bucks an hour if you must talk.

Don't listen to this guy, OP. Bill Belichick makes 7.5 million a year for his coaching services, and this guy is talking about $150 an hour... for what, let's say 40 hours a week? If you work 50 weeks a year, then that's still just 300k, which is what Belichick makes in less than 2 weeks. So don't listen to this guy. He's probably just trying to get a cheap deal for himself, and cheat you out of a lot of money.

My devious plan revealed.Damn!

Bill Belichick owns several Super Bowl rings.  The only ring BeepBeep owns, he bought in the adult toystore.
