How tall are you Chess players?

I think that lies on a 12 base numeric system.

Between you & I, Fuefollet, Gulliver sent me a message.   I'm in....soon as I strike 2000.  Kinda elitist, me thinks. Wink

C'mon pulp.  It's been Euro for a while now.  You don't really think of the old stuff still?

My parents still convert modern money (GBP) into the old pounds, shillings and pennies, forty-five years after decimalization!

Ha.  Your Parents though, not you.  My old dad explains the chaos of old money...144 pennies to a pound & I still can't work out what ten-bob is.  It makes no sence.  Metric is sooo much neater.

240 pence to the pound.

12 pence per shilling. Twenty shillings to the pound.

p.s. "Ten bob" was half a pound (used to be a note).

p.p.s. 144 is a "gross", and was used mainly in the supply of materials. A dozen, dozen.

He was the great opponent in epic Stenmark - Križaj battle of the 80s.

More to the point : "How heavy are you chess players ?". I posted some time ago about there being weight divisions in chess , just like boxing. This was met with derision to the extent that no one commented ! No wonder a current thread is having a go at those not taking chess discussion seriously !

Not surprising. I still find myself calculating prices in pesetas sometimes.

There was a lot of price swindling going on when France switched from Francs to Euros...things that used to cost 5-6 Francs over night became 1.5-1.8 euros...which if you converted to back to Francs was like 10 -12 Francs, etc....

You are telling me! Not to mention... why the heck the 200-500 notes? How much black money have those thugs washed?

My father used to be a Tolar-millionaire. Often I went to the store and bought a chocolate with a 200 Tolar bill and told the shop assistant to keep the change.
