How to actually improve from computer analysis/tactics training?

Hi, I’m new to competitive chess. I know how to play the game (as I hope everyone reading this does) but like everyone else I want to get better. However, I’m unsure of an effectual way to get results and study the game. I can complete as many tactics puzzles as I want, but without learning the “why” behind the moves I gain nothing. Likewise, I can analyze any of my games to see what the best moves were in certain positions, but without learning the “why” the I feel as though the analysis loses its value. I was hoping someone who was once in my position and has found a way to improve and study the game efficiently could help me out here, I’m open to any methods. Thank you for reading.
