how to disable draw offers.

I get completely distracted from repeated draw offers.

OK also I should stop 10+0 in which you sometimes play moves too fast without looking..

but seriously I don't like when people cry sportsmanship but repeated draw offers in a losing position to prepare dirt / cheese / whatever you wanna call it... It's bad sportsmanship, sorry.

there's a reason in lichess you can only offer a draw once. I mean it's just disrespectful to deliberately annoy your opponent hoping for a blunder in such a lost position. Probably some kid but I was actually in rage after this game sad.png

They stopped multiple offers coming in on one move.  However, there is no way to stop your opponent from offering a new draw offer after every move is completed.

If you believe the behavior was unsportsman like, you can report it using the report button on the player's profile.

since you lost that completely winning position you shouldn't complain that your opponent offered a draw, because you had chances of losing. You should offer a draw only if it's dead equal or there is a way to lose for the attacker

You don't have to do anything about draw offers. Just keep playing; you don't have to do any but move to decline them.

of course I am just tilted and being childish I'm aware of that.

It all arises from my envy of these childish players (who are kids), that they actually want to win more than I do, to the extent that they will play on when they are dead dead dead lost and believe they might find dirt, against someone who played like a 2000 the entire game and there is no reason to believe he will suddenly blunder like an 800 like I did. Well there you go.

I'm also aware that chess etiquette and draw offers subject is basically irrelevant to 10+0 and all I am doing is crying like a loser because I actually think it's quite a beautiful tactic what he did. just beautiful at my expense, and beautiful in the "never resign" sense.

But fine, this motivated me to push for 2000. I want to be worthy of playing against better and I want to believe more respectful opponents

How do you know he is 7 year old?

the profile picture is of a kid, maybe he's 10 idk.

the point is these kids are dangerous because they play at a low level the entire game have no dignity, don't understand how lost they are, and maintain focus waaaay better than me (31 years old).... also see tactics in the late middle game and endgame way better than me

what is hammered? lol

You realize I'm black and there was no counter play and I could have stopped that lone advancing pawn in several ways but missed one tempo and the tactic due to unsporting draw offers, yes?

100% true.

I just wanted to make sure you understand the position. Maybe to you it looks like it was quite equal... Hey challenge me if you want to get adopted I'm angry and I'll happily play you rated and gain the points back, +1 , +1 , +1 or however I get from you.

You should have taken the draw. Then you wouldn't have lost. Kid was a gentleman, gave you plenty of opportunities but you didn't take it. Now it`s too late.

Wait, so why are you still upset?

Of course I also dislike draw spammers as much as everyone else, but I just ignore them.

Avatar of PawnTsunami

You got so distracted by the draw offers between moves 24 and 35 that you found one of the only losing moves on move 37.  Tough luck there.

That said, I just ignore most draw offers during online games.  OTB, this behavior is not acceptable.  You would simply walk over to the TD.

There really should be a "decline all future draws" button

Avatar of EndZoneX

I'm pretty sure that when the draw offer pops up, there is the small text below it that reads "don't show draw offers this game", and you don't receive anymore.

While we're at it, how do I disable resignations. My opponents annoy me by resigning when I have an overwhelming position and am just starting to enjoy myself.

Thank you! on the other website you can only offer once.

Now where is this button? They say it does exist.

Of course the real issue is why does it disturb us?

tbh this game tought me alot about how I should relax and keep focus so whatever, I'm not upset anymore also I played some nice games later and when my opponents were being stubborn, not resigning after losing Q etc I really worked on keeping my cool, not trying to "finish them" but playing active and not allowing counter play... Like the real issue is being stressed on the rating to the extent that once you are "winning" you just want them to resign and play the next game already. This is a problem. Like one guy said you should want them to not resign. Enjoy the conversion, and give their ideas respect even if they themselves are disrespectful and their ideas are completely superficial. That's the antidote I believe.

So in a way this kid tought me a great lesson. Thanks kid.

And may this post serve as a warning to everyone who gets annoyed by the draw offers. Don't be annoyed, stay calm and focus extra hard to punish these little snakes in the game and get the W.  I stand behind it that it is extremely BM though because 100% of them do it on purpose to throw you off and make you waste time / confused / angry.

I started to doubt myself when I see nobody else was mentioning it. Yes I recall such an option, maybe there is not such an option on the app, because I play on the website exclusively. That would explain why majority of people on the topic haven't seen it.

@HeroinSheep

If I recall correctly, when there is a draw offer, that option appears. I play on the website, and if you play on the app, perhaps it is a different story though.
