How to get good at Chess

This topic will teach you various patterns. I encourage you to memorize them.

1. Chess Vision

These are the patterns you need to know first, because they allow you to calculate (in chess terms, "to look for the current best move by seeing n moves ahead").

 

Start first by memorizing the locations of the pieces from the start. Take a close look at all the pieces, and think about what square they are in, what type of piece they are and where they can go.

If you're lucky, your PC might have preinstalled "Microsoft" chess in it. That "Microsoft" chess has settings where all legal moves of a selected piece is highlighted.
