How to get the London System book achievement?

Hello, I am wondering how to get the book achievement for the London System. The move order is 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4, which is exactly what I did below, but I did not get the award. Does anyone who has it know how to get it?

Isn't it more of a warning to others than an achievement. "Don't play this guy, he's so boring that he plays the London System." You're better off not prejudicing people against you by having that kind of warning slapped on your account. happy.png

@chyss I laughed. But in all serious I have no idea. I was a London player for some time and never got the achievement after trying essentially every move order and variation with no luck. But then the other day I randomly got it. I have seen this question a few times, so I think it is a bug.

@LeeEuler thanks for the clarification. I didn’t want to post this because I have seen other posts similar to this, but none of the answers were satisfactory. If it’s just a bug and I’ll get it eventually then that’s good to know.

The Book for London System is clearly broken as an Award. No one plans on fixing this issue. It's clear there is a bug but no one will address it.

Trying for this now

It's my last Book but I gave up trying. Let us know if you have any success, however, from my experience I would say don't waste your time.

I think that it is because, since London system is a system (you put your pieces at the same place regardless of what your opponent does basically), it overlaps with a bunch of other openings and your play won't count as a London system but thing like "old indian", "queen pawn's stuff" etc.

Just sharing my own experience with this. After running into the same situation, I searched around, and this bug has existed for some months. Some people said that after playing the London System enough, the award was finally, uh, awarded. I found after the first game I played this opening, the award pop-up showed up in the bottom right of the screen as is normal with new book openings, but the award didn't end up showing on the book awards section of my profile.

Thanks for this. I don’t think I ever got the pop-up either though, so I don’t know what’s up with that.

Also a question for anyone reading this is if you have played the black side in 1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Bf4 and have gotten the reward.

Hi

CoreyDevinPerich
I just got it 23 days ago, so it’s possible.

I figured it out. The process is 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bf4 d5 3. e3 e6 4. Nd2 c5 5. c3 Nc6 6. Ngf3. I haven't tested it, but it should work 100%.
