I don't feel like playing live actually is helping me get better at chess but the slower time of daily where I actually can think before making a move does. Is this a relatively common experience among beginner level players?
Ok so I'm not exactly a beginner but I feel I am not far ahead of beginners for the most part. At least I don't feel like it most of the time playing live games.
1) I already do tactics daily on another site because they limit my tactics here to 5 puzzles daily
2) I try to play live chess on the 2 days I am able to play (work doesn't really allow for more playing time unfortunately)
3) I've read books on chess when time permits (but again, time is limited due to other responsibilities)
4) I go over other (better players) people's games when possible and try to learn from them - so I can think/see better chess wise
5) I also watch YouTube videos when I have time
I find that playing "daily" chess (correspondence) helps me with the "live" games but daily chess seems a bit slow in terms of learning to play "better" but with limited time (due to my work) I don't really feel I have other options or maybe I'm just not aware of (other) resources that I could be doing to speed up my "learning" so that I don't blunder as often when playing live.
I feel I'm doing as much as I can to improve my chess (at least by a little weekly/monthly).
If you have any suggestion beyond what I'm doing, I'd really appreciate input/help/suggestion.
Thank you.
