Improving your tactics would help a lot. Under 1000 tactic rating is not very good. No offense intended. A lot of amateur level games are decided by tactics because we make inaccurate moves leading to tactical opportunities, being able to recognize those opportunities will help you improve.

Erik is right. Tactics trainer would train you to calculate better and help you to notice the critical moments in the middle game. I would do at least two to four hours of tactics trainer off and on throughout the day. Another thing is I would play at least 10 min blitz and really think about the moves. A lot of it just takes practice, and you will gain experience the more you play. Learning when the critical moments are will allow you to find the winning combination. Recognizing these take opening preparation and practice.

Case and point, just played two standard games. First game I totally miscalculated (imagine that) and then blundered in epic fashion after that. I swear I always do that first game of the day lol. Second game, my opponent played a move that's a well known blunder in the Sicilian dragon. I knew the tactic in that position so I crushed him. Tactics bro, tactics lol.
How can i improve my game further without any help from an pro coach? Any tips?
