How to increase elo rating

1. Play longer games
2. Practice CCTO during the games and use your arrows
a. Check for Checks, Captures, Threats, Optimize (in that order)
3. Practice tactics every day
4. After you have done the above and you don't hang your pieces anymore. Learn an opening.
a. White (e4 openings are a lot of work, d4 can be simpler)
b. Black (depends on what white plays (most of these are called something ... defense). Most defenses are built for e4 or d4 as the opponent's first move. You'll need at least one defense for both.
5. Play each of your openings until you know them by heart or you get bored with them. Then you can learn more.
6. The most important thing is this. Have fun. if you make it feel like work, it'll get boring. Learn how to lose and be curious as to why and excited that the opponent is helping you learn something. Try to see why you lost, what mistake(s) you made.
