Not 100% true. The default net is preinstalled for most GUI now, so you dont need to do (understand ) those steps ..
However, if you want to install custom net or default net doesnt run in certain GUI (e.g chessmaster), you need to know those technical details.

The initial info was very useful, but right now it's obsolete, since the NN is included in the latest official and devel releases and working right out of the box.
