Thanks! That’s a solid opening, and I’ll try it out when I get the opportunity.
I was actually thinking about ways to get a guaranteed 1.d4 to practice against rather than a recommendation of an opening (nevertheless I’m glad you mentioned it). Most bots don’t, nor does Coach at Intermediate II or Advanced (I’m in the middle). Real people do, however, and I’m playing more of them lately.
I did just discover that Hans (1000) opens with 1.d4 and tried defending with something other than my usual Nimzo-Indian. I won too easily though, which is why I was looking for another bot to play (or an app or settings etc).
I’ve been playing chess regularly for over a year (after many years’ break), mostly against bots and Coach. Unfortunately, I almost always get 1.e4, Reti and almost anything but 1.d4 when I play black.
Are there bots that are known to play 1.d4 openings?
Alternatively, are there settings I don’t know about on Chess dot com that will let me practice my black response to 1.d4 openings?
Different apps? I have Lichess but use it mostly for game evaluation, so I’m not very familiar with its range of features.
