A member for 8+ years. You should know its against the site rules to discuss cheating in the main forums, and its also aginst the site rules to name and shame.

Fair point on discussing cheating, but im not trying to shame this guy. I dont blame him for thinking i cheated since i won with almost no mistakes. He said he was going to report me for cheating and it raised a genuine question about proving innocence. There are a ton of cheating scandals (like that 13 y /o girl in the bathroom) and being accused / having to prove innocence is a weird spot to be in.
If bringing up cheating gets this thread closed I understand, its their TOS and its a fair point but i want to be clear that im NOT shaming anyone. I posted a game where he beat me, i think were pretty evenly matched really.

You really shouldn't worry if someone accuses you of cheating. They can report you all they want; it's not your burden to prove you weren't.

I am not really concerned with this accusation or this game. In the general sense, with higher profile cases, how do people "prove they didnt cheat". What can you say or do after youve been accused. There was a guy who beat Magnus in a simul on here by accepting a queen exchange who go accused, although most people didnt think he cheated since he had 30 mins to Carlson's 30 min for 30 people or w/e it was. There was a guy who beat Naka in titled Tuesday who got banned for cheating when he claims he didnt cheat.
In the abstract, general case, how does someone "prove" they didnt cheat? It is far easier to prove someone did cheat imo.

let it go...If you didnt cheat, youre good, and if you did, youre account will get closed.

I guess there really is no way to prove it. Chess.com has tools to determine whether cheating happened or not. We're not allowed to know, as that would tell us what they look for and thus a person could circumvent the system. It's also a privacy matter between chess.com and the accused.
I mostly play unrated and i often think people cheat, sometimes its very obvious when each move is 5 seconds and they crush me in a rematch by playing totally different. I am always pretty flattered when i get accused of cheating because it implies i played so good that i was using an engine when i wasn't (and i dont!). But today i got accused of cheating and it raised the question, how do you prove/convince your opponent you didnt cheat? Im 2-1-1 vs this guy in 3-2. Here is the game in question and he should be in my recent games if anyone wants to see our history.
