How to recover from my plummeting elo.

I've successfully reached 1100, and I fear going back to 1000s, I've started losing games in a row for the past couple of days. Any tips to counter this and beat the 1100s. And also, I play the French Defense and Queen's gambit, if anyone's wondering.

Sorry, I have already fallen to the 1000s, so that's bad.

Beginners should not care at all about things like rating.

#6 who should care for ratings? Or to express myself better, at which point your rating starts to matter?

When you are ready to try for an official title (CM and above).

I quickly checked two of your recent games with white.

Against nirb83. Focus on opening principles. Move 7. Not really bad, but why e3 instead of Nf3? or 8. Nb5 Why move in with your Knight before developing the rest of your pieces? Your Knight has no support.  Rest of the opening was fine.

Against Guilidevil.  You get checkmated with 8:47 on the clock. That's totally unnecessary, especially in a winning position.

Take some time to analyze your games, it'll help you get better.

Switching to puzzles can also help. You won't hurt your rating while improving your tactical abilities.

Thanks for analyzing my games, I would try my best to avoid such opening blunders.

Should I care about my tactics rating? Recently I had it at 2400 but it has decreased due to stress in real life.

Pfren, pretty much everyone cares about their rating. It’s natural.

I bet tournaments were more exciting before ratings. I know it’s hard to imagine now, but think of a tournament where you have no idea if your opponent is better or worse than you, and no one has a clue who is going to win.

You can’t ban elo of course. But I kinda wish you could.

#13 that would be awesome. Risk free games are much more entertaining to watch than voring draws to secure half a point.

Your rating doesn't matter - 300 point swings are quite normal.  In my case, I had a problem for a while of losing on time in winning positions.  (For the record, I don't recommend the experience.)

What matters is what you've learned.  Keep a chess journal (it can be a google doc, a notebook, anything in between).  Each month do a retrospective about what you have learned.

The time to worry is when you don't learn anything from the losing rating swing.

Yeah, maybe I shouldn’t care about my rating, but seeing it plummet like a brick is really discouraging, and I’d like it to stay as high as I can get it lol.
