If you block all adds you miss out. Some adds are really good or funny.
How to simply stop all ads without paying!
Chess.com gets paid to have ads on their website. They dont care if you dont see them
Not true for the vast majority of internet ads. The revenue a website gets depends on the number of click-throughs, and for services like Amazon, not only does someone have to click through (i.e. click on an ad and then land on the resulting webpage), they have to make a purchase during that click-through session in order for the original ad-displayer to get anything.

I will reiterate that I will not turn off my ad-blocker for this website. If chess.com wishes to close my account or block my access, by all means, be my guest. I've already left gameknot for exactly that reason, and I will leave here as well. Too many quality sites that don't have ads to put up with them here. I pay for chesstempo.com and chesslecture.com, so I have absolutely no use in the premium service here and I'm not going to be distracted by ads while playing here. Period. If that means not playing here, fine.

Ads only interfere with live games, imo. Turning off Shockwave flash can help stop Flash ads, also.
Ahh.. Life has become filled with people that believe the world owes them a living. Let some other poor sucker pay for me. … Everything is free!
When you signed up to Chess.com you agreed to the following policies: “PLEASE READ it is in the small print.. Terms of Service” etc… etc.. “You understand and agree that the Service is provided “AS-IS” and that Chess.com does not assume any liability for personal information stored through our Service. IE..
“You accept that the Service may include advertisements”
End of story, unless you do not believe in the integrity of your word. I may not like the advertisements, but that is what I agreed to.

For the second time, I think this is spam.
Again, chess.com is free to close my account if they feel I've broken that it "may include advertisements."
Advertisements are paying the website, and for you to not let ads pay chess.com; I think you should purchase Memberships here and surpass the amount ads pays to the website.

Agreed. Had quoted his couple of the same comments in other threads. And I find this spamming.
Alright, I've said what I needed to say. I'm now untracking comments to this thread. Feel free to bad mouth me all you want. Still not going to view ads.

I've reported this and a couple of other trolls in the spam report thread.
Explain to me why chess.com would close your account please?? You have ad block, big deal, so do millions of other members.
Anyone that would sell the integraty of their word for free, would bargan away their freedom for nothing...
"Sorry to take the opposing viewpoint here - but just what is it you all expect? Do you think chess.com magically gets computer time for free to put up this web site?"
Big thumbs up!!
"You can't steal a free service. It's free. Neither I, nor anyone else, agreed to view ads in exchange for playing chess here. "
Big thumbs down.
It's not a "free" service. It's a service granted to those who register in return for either viewing ads or paying for an upgrade. By blocking the ads you are breaking your side of the agreement.
Whether it matters practically or not really depends on how Chess.com collects revenue (by merely presenting the ads on the site or by click-through count). If they receive the revenue merely for showing the ads, they probably don't care if you block them - but that definitely doesn't make it okay to do so.
In fact, I'm clicking through to a "Shocking French Video" right now!!

Wow, this is amazing stuff. I know there are over 6 Million members on chess.com, how many are paying members I don't know. I know I am one of them because I like the 25 free tactics trainer problems per day plus chess mentor, lack of advertising is a bonus, and frankly it is a great site. If each and everybody blocks adverts, then advertisers will no longer support this site, then lack of ad fees will have to be added onto paying members, who can then or no longer wish to support an overly expensive site and chess.com will be gone. Basically, you are shooting yourself into your own foot and will later complain that you only have one foot, but will be proud to tell everyone you only need one shoe. Let the chess.com guys run their show, they also need to put food on the table.
