You stepped to the area which requires significant work…First, I saw that you do not play Rapid games at all. Try them. More time to think and do analysis after the game.

we are gatekeeping the secret

I guess there are no secrets. But it’s more difficult to add 300 being 1800 in comparison from 200 to 500.

if you want to torture yourself, probably reading a Jacob Aagaard book would work. If the reason you want to improve is for the rating, or learning how yourself, you might not want to do this. I guess it should feel like learning math in elementary school.

I'm considering reading their Endgame Technique book (after or while gathering a little personal perspective on it), just to see how much it can actually improve a skill. I heard that Youtube videos are designed to feel like you're learning something while doing as little work as possible, so that's kind of like maybe what some people are feeling when they say they are trying to improve, or something is mixed up in the wrong way in their heads.

just a few thoughts

I heard that Silman is good.

I mean “How to re-assess your game”. I bought it and it’s incredible difficult. However, if you really study it (really!) you may jump upto to CM level.

I would recommend Rios' Pawn Structures and Broznik's Techniques of Positional Play.

everyone likes to copy some somewhat irrelevant-ish part of what I output (i think ur being helpful maybe though). My point was that thinking about improving in a certain constructive way could help (like, instead of gatekeeping the secret). maybe I could try How to re-asses your chess, but it's made by an IM and I thought Agaard would be more helpful, but maybe it's a bias. Maybe Agaard is too hard for OP though. Ladybug nice recommends, that seems like technical knowledge removed from things gatherable on the surface. Anyways, i do not see why ("we should be gatekeeping the secret") all the responses to this kind of question are about time controls or books. A big part is experience and knowledge but what is more to it ? because with just these things, someone can still "plateau". Decide how much you care but the hope is people can avoid being lost and forcing down a bad path. I don't know if there is a natural thing in place to avoid this. Maybe there is. But I like talking about it here for play, even if something is not all relevant or goes deep where unknowns are, if it's sustained in a real part of stairing up your chess rating from 1800 to 2100 ahhh.
this channel has some wacky whackigans, if anyone is interested
