How to teach children chess?

Please help me with tips. I want to teach the younger kids at my school. Most of them know the rules (perhaps not en passant, but that's easy to fix), but know nothing of tactics or strategy. What do I do?

Just teach them the basics first, then when they know how the pieces move and what can capture what, then you can move on.
But dont give them to much In one day or they might get overwhelmed!

Did that make sense?

Yes, it did. I think my problem will be mostly not overwhelming them! They do kow the rules (except for en passant and stalemate, probably), but hopefully it'll work.
Thank you!

Teach them Gomoku first.

If they can't play Gomoku, forget it.
