How Top GMs Prepare

Does anyone know of articles or interviews in which top GMs discuss how they prepare for tournaments and/or specific players?

Also, any articles/interviews with GMs outside of the elite who make their living from playing chess describing their lives?

I can tell you from conversations that I've had that leading up to a tournament they're just figuring out what openings they want to play.

They're not doing actual prep for specific opponents until the tournament begins.

Exceptions are the Candidates and the World Championship.

Study is different from prep.

No disrespect intended, DeirdeSkye, but your post#4 was awesome and answered the OP's question, post#2 was unnecessary, and not what was being asked

Most GMs are basically rich no matter how little or how much they prepare.

I don't think it is.

Honestly, those are the things I most wanted to know as I got more involved in the chess world.

I was curious about the lifestyle and what their days are like, etc.

How I have a reasonably good idea and I've seen an insiders view of how a lot of these guys and gals live but it's still cool to talk about, etc.

I'm not sure the OP means it to help in any way other than satisfying curiosity.

I know I didn't.
