I hate rude people. their usually an only child and have rich parents.
i am amazed by the rudeness of people

i once played a player rated higher than me after beating him twice in a row i felt giving him a win on the third game would at least be a consolation for him. But when i start faltering in the endgame due to time scrambling he suddenly gave degrading remarks. So i waited till the last second to reply that i felt i hade to give him the game coz he might cry like a baby if he doesnt win anyway i was still up 2-1. I left and declinded his rematch request coz he so unpleasant. But he kept challenging and i was so happy declining and ignoring it.Poor guy
Haha. I've done that too. Then I sat there thinking to myself, "Why should I just give him the games? He'll probably just think he won and it won't do anything good for him."
Today, after reading up some more on the disable chat feature provided in your live settings, I've decided to experiment with the "disable chat" enabled.
I think it will help me to concentrate more on games.
My friends on my friends list will still be able to chat with me, but they have enough sense to be courteous or they wouldn't be my friends in the first place. If one were to abuse the trust, I'd simply remove from friends.
I think this may be the way to go and I'll be sure to report back how it's worked out in about a week or so.
Please, a little compassion!
Most of these rude players are the unattended children of prostitutes who must work long hours to feed them, using the lack of supervision to steal their neighbor's wireless connections.

man i wish i were the only child of rich parents.

I usually take the high road with a response like " Not feeling the love today I see". That usually just puts then into tilt mode. They are looking for you to respond at their level. Don't take the bait. High road retorts and a sound thumping usually has them running away. I have yet to see a very rude player that can actually play well.
I find resigning a winning game flips these idiots mind...lol try it..i think its an internet problem...not a chess problem
At least he didn't call you a dirty baster
that made me so hungry for a turkey sandwich..
also ive only had 1 such player....so its not as prevalent as we might think..i have a chat with people...but stop short of abuse or telling them moves..id go as far to say ud be thrown from a tourny for this...thus it is cheating

At least he didn't call you a dirty baster

Turkey baster must mean something different in the USA to what it does in the land of Oz. Or perhaps not

For some reason, some people turn into obnoxious rear ends when playing chess online. Fortunately, I haven't seen very much of it, but now and then.......yeah. I liken it to how some people turn into douche-a-matics when they crawl behind the wheel of a car. They are fine, normal, good humans, then sit behind the steering wheel, and *BAM* instant jacka*$ ! I don't know if it's just the anonymity that makes them feel like they can be that way, but...... it sure happens. I have to agree with several other comments I have read in this thread........beat 'em on the board, and beat 'em bad! Tell them gg, then decline rematches.

I've played hundreds of games and have encountered only one or two rude people. Did get a hateful reply on a forum post once but very impressed with the class of players overall.

I just started a game against a guy somewhere in india and the first thing he said was 'move idiot'.... I said absolutely nothing and 3 moves later I pinned his queen to his king..he then resigned asking for a rematch and calling me a 'basted'(sic)
So put him on ignore and move on the Internet is full of grouchy and rude types just disable chat so people can't send you messages.
They don't see you, you don't see them, if they are angry, they just vomit on you. In real life they would not do it ,
1. because of witnesses ( here everybody is anonymous), and
2. because you might have a stronger fist.
Those who do it on the internet, are angry very often in real life, and their anger cannot get out.

This is not an excuse, of course.
The best way is, to avoid them. Otherwise you get hurt (we don't have a skin of an elephant).
