I am very bad at chess, why?

the most annoying is plateauing. Being a bad player is OK (almost everyone is...)

Plateauing is extremely frustrating.

I can't improve no matter how much I practice, I was better when I was 7 than I am now, why is this and can anything be done?

its probably just bad luck. don't worry, your day will come.

That's not good advice!

I think a more interesting question is why/how are people naturally good at chess?

And you think you're good, dbagsrule?  Lmao!  Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house.

The one I think you should not NOT do given the amount of very suspect ratings on chess.com is to assume that anyone person's ability at chess begins and ends at the boarders of chess.com.....

I agree that there are suspect ratings on here, but in most cases I don't believe that's true.  Usually those accounts get weeded out for cheating by chess.com.

Awwwwwww.....your optimism is adorable

1) piece drills

2) simple tactics

3) mating patterns

4) Most important: board vision.

5) And whenever your opponent moves a piece, ask 2 questions a) what was attacked? b) what was defended? by the last move.

These things should get you to 1200.

Okay, I just looked at the games of OP (and his opponents):

1) play e4-e5

2) develop your minor pieces and castle

3) don't play f4 before castling.

4) don't play long games. Play blitz.

Man, these under-1200s are playing some really fancy openings. Thats totally unnecessary. Just stick to e4-e5. It's easier to handle at this level.

You don't have to play King's Pawn.

They are playing kingside fianchetto, queenside fainchetto, English, Reti, alekhine, Sicilian...etc. I think those kind of openings are unnecessary and even counterproductive under 1200. e4-e5 gives a good enough game and a chance to learn some basic themes.
