perhaps you are picking up on subtle combinations and positions which you have learned/practiced (for example in tatics training), but you still do not know the strategies behind them yet. i'd suggest reading more strategy/theory and maybe you'll soon understand why a certain move is a good move.
or you've just been on a "lucky" streak and your rating will eventually fall back down to where it should be.
but because I've been inviting non-chess playing friends over here and usually play a few games with them.
Does anyone else feel this way...
My rating has been climbing pretty well over the last few weeks bc of about 8 wins in a row (granted one was a timeout which I hate to win by). I have been playing better I guess but I dont know why or how. I went from 1200+ to 1500+ and I just dont feel like a 1500 player. If you ask me Id say Im about 1250-1300 but somehow I keep winning. I feel like when I play in this tournament in the 1400-1600 I will be exposed big time. I wish I was more confident in my ability but I just honestly dont even think I understand the good moves I make a lot. What gives?
