My game was played in 1974, in Moncton NB, Canada.
Perhaps you are thinking of the famous game Edward Lasker vs George Thomas? It also ended in a similar mate, and it's quite well known. Gothamchess might have hade a video of THAT game. It was a Dutch Defense, Staunton Gambit, not a French.
