I HIT 2000!

In an almost poetic saga of my ongoing chess journey (goodness me that sounded dramatic), I have achieved every amateur's dream of the coveted 2000 elo: almost 2 years to the day from achieving 1800 for the first time.

The game itself is very underwhelming, my opponent blundered a tactic early and abandoned the game a few moves after, but the journey to get here has been extremely challenging and rewarding. To everyone I've played so far (across the 7000+ games it's taken), thank you for engaging in the world's greatest game with me.

LOTS still to learn, and hopefully I ain't peaked just yet, but 2000 is an incredible milestone, and I am beyond pleased with myself!

I threw together this graphic to show my rating progress of hitting milestones, and I've included times where I've gone noticeably below the milestone as otherwise the graph would be entirely stagnant from Sep 23 to very recently, as once I dipped below 1900 the first time it took me 18mths to hit it again!

As for “what happened at the end of 2023 to make me lose so much rating” ermmmm that would be the start of my final year at uni 😂🥲
