You can check ebay. On ebay you will have the widest choice of chess sets and and most reasonable price. Many ebay sellers ship their products across the world at very reasonable cost. If you can find either Drueke or Jaques of London it would be best. Wood is surely better than plastic but it costs more but in return it will provide you with many years of joy!

Hello! Thanks for the suggestion! Wood is a lot better, but my dad doesn't want either me or him to buy it because it's cost is really big. Also, we're struggling to buy a clock too. I'm still trying to explain him that LEAP PQ9907s digital chess clock doesn't have increment or delay. grin.png

You apparently are not reading what people are writing.

The young man specified that this must all be low cost.

One question. Are the pieces really quadruple weighted (4 lbs)? Are they extremely durable? Did they fall from the table sometime and break? Do you live outside America? If you do, how much was the shipping cost? Thank you for informations!

All I can say is that they are very heavy pieces.  Whether the set weighs 4 lbs or not I can't say as I've never weighed them and don't have a scale that could.  It's got to be close though.

I can't imagine one breaking from a fall to the floor.

I do live in the USA so shipping was free 2 day as they advertised.

I would contact them and ask what their international shipping policy is and I would also contact the people that Shelby suggested.  He is pretty experienced in this sort of thing.

I went on the site Shelby suggested and the prices were quite low. I just don't know if the pieces are somewhat atleast triple weighted. I'm still scared of their breaking after falling on the floor. It's not that hard for you guys who live in USA, as you can buy products and the shipping costs would be something like $5 or free. As for me, I always get shipping costs like 100$ and something like that.

Dario19503

Quite low price for the pieces and set I mean.

Once more, does the weight fall out from Chess Geeks' pieces?

You can still find staunton vintage chess sets below $200 on ebay. As for chess clock Garder is very reliable and was used in world championships, as for digintal DGT is best. If you cannot afford anything below $200 then you can go for Dubrovnik plastic which is only $10 and you can even find digital clock for $10. Search the ebay and you will surely find something to suit your taste and budget but watch out against chinese plastic sets!

I was watching such chess clocks and I find LEAP PQ9907s to be very affordable. The only thing because of which I wouldn't buy the clock is because it hasn't got delay and Fischer after (bonus). I need those for tournaments and I don't want to buy clock twice.

In all honesty you will need to realize that you get the quality you pay for.

If you want a heavily weighted chess set it will be more expensive than one that is not heavily weighted.

If you want a clock that has both US Delay and Fischer increment that will be more expensive than clocks that do not have them.

I am sure there are companies in your area of the world that sell plastic, weighted chess sets and clocks for a reasonable and fair price.  Good luck finding what you want.

I've found DGT NA chess clock and Quadruple Weighted Chess Set with 4" King, quadruple weighted chess pieces (weighs over 1,500 grams) and mousepad board 20" x 20" with 2.25" square size for 60$. I'd add Premier Tournament Chess Bag also for a price of $80 or $85. I'm gonna spend a lot of money on those because I want them with extremely huge quality which will last for something like 10 years.

Good job. Let us know how it turns out. And pictures would be nice

Glad you found what you were looking for

Dario19503

Yes, I did. Now I just need to ask my father if I could purchase them, as he will probably refuse because of the huge money on plastic set. But I'll figure out how to encourage him to accept! grin.png

Dario19503

Hey guys,

I've just found out that Wholesale Chess sells Premier Tournament Chess Set for $40 now!!! I requested from them that set and DGT North American chess clock together for $90 with free international shipping if possible.

Dario19503

Meh, WSC (Wholesale Chess) doesn't ship free internationally. And the shipping cost is quite huge.

Eyechess

You need to understand that these businesses need to make a profit, otherwise they will no longer be in business.

Stop to consider that you are looking to buy a complete set AND a DGT NA clock for $90.  The clock alone retails for about $50.

At $90 for what you are looking at to buy, there is not much profit.  International shipping is expensive when we are talking in this price range.  I would say that the true cost for shipping internationally from the USA to Serbia will be at least $70.  I know because I just shipped a single Queen to Noj in Slovenia and that cost me $59.

In the United States, to the United States shipping the cost is a lot less.  The setup you describe should cost no more than $12 - $15.

As I said, you need to find a retailer in your area of the world that has decent prices for the equipment and shipping.

Don't forget that your country might also have custom fees that they would expect you, not anyone else, to pay.  Once again, we did experience that with Slovenia when I shipped the Queen to Noj.  They wanted to charge Gregor 60 Euros as a custom tax until he explained to them that I was simply returning the piece to Gregor so he could match the wood and then make and send me replacement pieces.

Good luck in finding the equipment you want and let us know how it all turns out and what you end up getting.

Hi, Eyechess. I was looking a lot of shops here in/near Serbia and I only found some Dubrovnik sets. Didn't find any Staunton ones. I found one Dubrovnik set with weighted pieces and roll-up vinyl board for $20 with shipping and I found an very good clock for $75. Here's the link of the shop which sells that clock. http://chess-plus.com/en/products/chess-clock-am1401c

The clock is inexpensive from what I've seen for that money.
