play 30 min on chess.com should help man. And prctise regularly
I mostly feel pressurized by the ticking clock
There is nothing wrong with taking time to think. You need to rearrange your life so that you have enough time to play without having to worry about your next appointment. Short of that, games with a built in delay like 15 10 will help you avoid completely running out of time at the end.
William, when I play face to face with my friends I never even consume half of my time but on chess.com this problem persists.
Plus i can't play properly while staring at pieces on the screen so i have to set up a real chess board infront of me and mimic the moves. Takes 5 seconds to do so per move on average . Is that bad?
I recommend moving slow until you have an advantage. It's easier to find the right moves when you're winning.
Thats a good piece of advice. Thanks for that.
And should i continue with my style of play since i often opt for semi-open games
Time management is a matter of experience. There is no lesson that will suddenly make you improve.Play many games and eventually you will find a way to overcome it.
For now it is more important to obtain a good thinking process so take your time with the moves even if that means losing from time.Analyse your games and check where and why you think so long.Sometimes we think a lot because we fail to recognise the simple moves.Or we fail to appreciate them.Even with 2 hours for 40 moves there are still players that are in time pressure all the time. It's not because they calculate more moves. It's because they fail to evaluate what must and what must not be calculated.
So it is possile your time pressure to be the result of your uncertainty.
Perhaps it is as a result of uncertainty.
Anyways, the new chess.com feature showing exactly how much time you spent on each move might come in handy for me since i can see in which part of the game do I gobble most of my time.

Hey OP, i think im facing the opposite problem. I am more familiar with pieces on the screen than OTB lol!

perhaps because you started playing chess on screen while i did on OTB
I mostly play 30mins matches here but the problem is that I usually take much more time to make my move than my opponents say 20-30 seconds more per move extra. Hence as the game proceeds I usually have a few minutes less in bag than my opponent. And if the game continues till say move 30+ then I am pretty tensed about timeout and often make blunders as a result.
I have tried to go through the opening phase quickly but then I usually loose a couple of pawns since i am more concerned about the clock than protecting my minnows.
I can't increase the match length since my schedule doesn't allow it, so thats not an option.
So is there a way out to this?
Any help will be appreciated
