Chess being considered the ' game of life' , I thought I'd have a crack at playing to measure how much it correlates to how I play at this game called life. I suck, plain and simple, I just don't have that killer instinct to win at either. So what, I still want to play. I don't learn tactics, I want to learn from mistakes I make as I go along. I'm the same in life, yes it makes it painful but I reckon I learn more than people using cheats. So if you come across me, I'm learning and doing it the hard way, by stuffing up and then learning. I'm happy to win or lose because, that's life.

chess is patterns. study tactics and learn the patterns. that's life as well.

As with any skill in life, chess requires daily and purposeful practice if you want to be the best you can be.

Yes the top 10 players are chess geniuses, but perhaps what sets them apart the most is a huge capacity for work.

To think that chess, or any complex skill, can be mastered haphazardly though trial and error alone is to greatly underestimate that skill.
