Hi,

I was wondering if my ranking is something that would be honored if I were to connect to an ICS system? Does chess.com offer an ICS server to connect to?

Thanks!

Not exactly sure what you are asking but you can connect to the site via web or via mobile app. That is pretty much it. At one point there was some discussions on a potential API but I don't know if the new site version is going to have anything like that or not.

Only just now found this discussion, but, @Martin_Stahl, ICS stands for "Internet Chess Server", a protocol which is frequently used to connect Chess servers to third-party clients.

And @jhelfman, I don't really know whether or not Chess.com has an ICS server; although, I suspect that they don't, since I can't find it and if it did exist, it would probably be easily findable with a mere Google search. Holding out hope, but there's not much.

Chess.com also says in their User Agreement that "You agree to not use the Services to [...] duplicate, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble or decode the Services (including any underlying idea or algorithm), or attempt to do any of the same;"
and that "You agree not to access the Service by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Chess.com for use in accessing the Service. This license is freely revocable by us at any time".
So if they don't provide it, you can't make it either. Maybe someday they'll create that ICS server for Chess.com, but it probably doesn't exist right now...

10 years old, I don't think it's relevant in the slightest anymore...
