That is a blog, not subject to editorial oversight and with no reputation to uphold.

Do you know how to evaluate sources?

Another question, does this story cite the source of this information?  NO.

Check out the comments section of this article for some real entertainment.

So basically what you are saying is you believe anything and everything you read on the internet.

When FIDE starts to pay them millions for winning tournaments they will become millionaires. Footballers did not become millionares until they were paid millions and given endorsement deals. I think FIDE has a lot of work to do in this direction.

As you know I am a very serious individual.  Especially when it comes to chess.  Even more so when it comes to internet chess forums.

An again sports that have high followership, viewership, spectatorship tends to attract more more more money via sponsorships. So for chess and chess players to attract more money it should made a spectators sports, by make sure games played on the board is also broadcasted on bigger screen for spectators or viewers I believe technology can solve this challenge. I see no reason why a Vish Anand is playing against a Carlsen and it cannot be broadcasted arround the world. The broadcasts rights is one of the major soures of revenue.

johnmusacha

Only if people watch it.

Figured that part out yet brah?

The_Ghostess_Lola

Oh....don't get me wrong....I don't believe nor disbelieve anything you nor the kid nor anyone else writes. He may or may not have the assests people say.

I work in investments here on St. Croix. I'm in my 30's and everytime I say I've seen/heard all the tricks ?....someone pulls something new.

Karpov is a public figure and a newsworthy person.  If there was any iota of proof of this rumor, even a shred of evidence to support a story, some reputable press organization or newspaper would have run the story.

yomexy

People are definitely going to watch brah, I bet you would want to watch if you turned on your TV and saw Anand vs Carlsen. If 20000 players can be playing chess online at once then when it is broadcasted and they know it is shown on TV millions will watch might not be up to that of football or basketball . So don't be a pessimist brah.

johnmusacha

People are definitely not going to watch brah.

yomexy

And come to think of it Football and Chess are very similar sports/ games both involve tactics and strategies and same principles applies to both.

johnmusacha

Except that football is popular and chess is not brah.

A chess.com sage philosopher recently noted that chess and masturbation to internet pornography both involve the same tactics and principles.  What's your point?

yomexy

Then I will advice you to go and do your research football and how they became money spinners. It is a simple thing no need arguing about it. But not one fact it possible to play football and not allow spectators to watch.

johnmusacha

What the heck?

You should not allow your love of chess to blind you to the real world.

I enjoy some fringe activities myself but in no way do I boldly declare such stupidity as "put it on tv!  It'll make millions, I guar-an-tee!!"

Get some perspective on life, brah.

yomexy

From your last comment it shows you have not really understood chess as a game, you think you have, I was like that also with time you will understand.

johnmusacha

Ok, if I understand chess as a game then I will -- almost magically -- start to believe that chess will attract worldwide audience in the millions?

All righty then, brah.

As simple as Darts is , I watch it on tv, I first time I saw it on TV I was impressed despite the fact that it is not my favorite sport.

Good for you, brah.

One day you will realize that you don't dictate the tastes of the entire world population.

Are you saying that the world population should be treated with some propanda barrage of epic proportions in order to brainwash them to liking chess?

Shove chess down their throats until the capitulate to your wishes?

Yeah brah.

Chess players are not millionaires or billionaires because they are smart enough to realize that playing out your passion is much better than paying it out for money.
