If Paul Morphy Played Today?
He'd be up there, but I don't think he'd be any better than any other leading GM.
you never know, even if i dont want to make the achievments of leading GMs smaller, but you know its a bit harder to come up with something that wasnt there before then learning from the masters knowledge who were there before.

I think he would be a world contender personally. He is one of my favorite players. If he would play today, he would know of all the improvements to theory etc, he would have kept up with it. He was one of the best, if not the best players of his time, so if he was at his prime in this day and time, do you think it would have made any difference today. No, he would still be considered one of the best if not the best. He would be a Super GM. Thats my opinion on it at least.

He was so far ahead of his game theoretically and skill wise with such limited resources. He understood attack at a level that wouldn't be widely understood for decades. I see no reason if exposed to today's resources he would not also be leagues and leagues ahead of the rest
The young Morphy learns chess at age 7 and becomes a master a few years later. Soon, he is a grandmaster and he is swapping pieces withe likes of Anand and Magnus...does he become world champion? if yes why? if no, why?
