If You Could Have a Non-Chess Conversation With Any Titled Player

Who would it be and what would you talk about?

I'd probably talk politics with Kasparov. Even if I was given the choice to talk chess, I'd rather hear about his ideas not only on Putin and the state of Russia but the US as well with the recent inauguration of Trump.

I think his words were "Winter is coming"...

I recently had a long conversation with GM Reverend William Lombardy when he visited the Illinois Chess Vets chess club at the American Legion post 991 in Worth, Il. last December 18th. We talked about church politics and a host of other topics, but not about chess. He is an interesting person to talk with and I think that he enjoyed not being asked about Bobby Fischer for the zillionth time.

I enjoy talking about investing with Hikaru and about nutrition with Jacob Aagaard.

Nisipeanu and I once talked about world conflicts. over population, brain washing the people thru the media into spending more, etc. Very interesting. We spoke about the American dream also and came to the sad conclusion of how it used to be getting the good grades gets you the right schools and hard work the right jobs. Not anymore, the nation's full of cheats, liars and thieves.

Very interesting topics of conversation with this man, the harsh realities of the world.

On many levels I think it's a shame that pretty much the only thing anyone wants to do when they meet a GM is talk about chess.

I'd go for Nigel Short and talk about women.

I could talk to Garry Kasparov about divorce and April 13th.

I guess I should answer my own question...

I do have many non-chess conversations with GM's in my everyday life, but I suppose if I could choose one to have I'd like to talk about TV with Jan Gustafsson.
