IF YOU DONT RECORD YOUR MOVES?

In my last tournament i started beating this guy so bad that i didnt bother to write my last ten moves "to checkmate" i just quickly made my move and hit the clock. He tried to get me for not writing my last moves but i know he was just a sore loser and if it was the other way around i would not cared because he would have won fair and square but i was the other side winning the game so he was mad. but anyways the director was looking in the rule book to try and find out what happens if you dont record your moves, he couldnt find anything on it. So i ask... WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT IF YOU DONT RECORD YOUR MOVES???

Scottrf

Up to 6 months in prison and a $150,000 fine.

Dale

Article 8 of Fide laws discuss recording your moves.

See article 13 for punishments.

Your punishment is now everyone else at your chess club thinks you're an uncouth jerk who will only bother to follow proper etiquette and the rules of chess when you find it convenient.  You're a sore winner.

Thank you so much, actually the people at the tournament were amazed that a black guy could keep up with the 1800s group and my chess club in greenville, NC congratulated me and they laughed at "Ruby Abate" the sore loser for pulling the b***h move instead of just being a man and accepting that he lost. But oh well, Like Kanye West... i rather be a sore winner than a sore loser anyday so thanks for the compliment segway_enthusiast. and LMAO AT Scottrf

* USCF: A player may stop recording moves for the rest of the time control if the opponent has less than five minutes remaining. If the time control has an increment of at least 30 seconds per move, both players are required to record moves at all times.

** FIDE: You must continue recording moves if you have at least five minutes on the clock, even if the opponent has less than five minutes remaining. If the time control has an increment of at least 30 seconds per move, both players are required to record moves at all times.

Playin' the race card, I'm not going to comment on that.

Following the rules is never a bitch move when it comes to chess.  Without rules the game would be meaningless.  Your unconscionable disrespect not filling out your score sheet properly along with your arrogant condescending attitude towards your opponents speaks volumes.

Not writing out your moves allows your opponent to point behind you and scream "is that Rihanna?????" and drop extra pieces on the board when you fall for it.

If the opponent is under 5 minutes? I thought it was if you are under 5 minutes...

Um look im old school, if you beat me you beat me. I don't care if you recorded it or not. The point is as long as you didnt cheat and everytime i went to the bathroom i PUT MY PHONE on the TABLE so he didnt think anything. But hey some people will be sore losers and try to pull anything to win. I just stick to making the moves over the board. If you beat me you beat me, cool i'll suck it up and go back home to the drawing board like A MAN and GOOD SPORTMANSHIP is supposed to do. NOT WHAT HE DID...not shake my hand walk outside in anger then complain to the director i didnt finish recording my moves cause he didnt wanna lose those precious points on his ratings cause he was 500+ points ahead of me, and im not pulling the race card. I'm speaking facts.

Technically you should keep writing out your moves even though you shouldn't have to write it down after the win becomes trivial and apparent to even beginners (and the opponent is being disrespectful by not resigning such positions).

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

The reason i would never pull that on someone is because look.... if we sitting down at a rated game and play for 2+ hours and you clearly win BUT i can say hey he didnt finish recording his moves..NO i wouldnt .. why? because it wouldnt be a REAL win. Understand? How can you sleep at night knowing you took someones win when you know you don't deserve it? Period. Rules are Rules but as MEN we have laws such as "UNWRITTEN LAWS OF LIFE". Because at the end of the day if i lose taking the win on technical terms outside of chess wont erase the fact that i got my *ss whooped. See what i mean? it doesnt change it.
