Ive recently started chess. Ive been winning by time. Should I be proud I won? Did I really even win?

How you should feel is really subjective. If you won on time and also had the better position, then you won. If it was relatively even, then you apparently had a little better (a lot better?) time management. If you were completely lost, it was still a win, but maybe one that may be less satisfying.

Yes, you really won.

Yes. But in bullet and blitz, the short time control can lead to a strategy not based on checkmating your opponent, but getting a few seconds ahead and just protecting against checkmate with fast moves, which isn’t “pure” chess at all. So feel good about your time out wins, but checkmates feel even better.

Yes, you won on time.

Yes since the only reason your opponent had a winning position was because he spent too much time per move. You can play like that in rapid or classical but in blitz you can't do that

Be happy about beating your opponent on time however it occured. You managed your time better than your opponent and that's the critical part of the game. Deciding when to search, calculate and when to make the best move which you've found based upon your current evaluation, takes judgement. You handled the challenges presented to you by your opponent in a more effective manner than your opponent handled those presented by you. That's all there is to Chess no matter what time control you choose.

But that’s the best way to level up in leagues lol

Yup. Especially in a dead drawn opposite colored bishop endgame when my opponent runs out of time 49 moves after the last pawn move or capture.

What if you are already in a commanding position and your opponent loses on time?

Imagine you are one move away from checkmating your opponent. He flags instead. And you think that you "did not win". It does not quite make sense, correct?

A win, by all means, is a win.
