ILLEGAL MOVE.

Can anyone help me with these questions please.

1. Have I made an illegal move if in rapid play my King is on check and I played another move unaware  of the check?

2. Is Check supposed to be announced  in rapid play or blitz?

1.  Yes.  However, OTB I believe if you don't notice it, your opponent is allowed to capture your king and win the game.  Online, it never lets you make an illegal move.

2.  There is no rule saying you must announce putting your opponent's king in check.  I think people prefer you don't say it as it could be distracting.

What this website needs is a modification on the server so that when I put you in check, I can say "check" into my mike, and it will come out your speaker, and then I can cackle into the mike like an insane hen laying her first egg.
