illigal moves in online chess ?

The ROOK is allowed to move through "check". The king is not. In this game, the king didn't move through any attacked squares.

The White King did not pass through check; the Rook passed through b1 which the Black Bishop was attacking and that is perfectly OK.

The King did not pass through the perceived check. The Rook can pass through with no question. Please refer back to the rules about castling and checks and think it through.

Exactly.

How can you be rated almost 1900 and not know this?
Oh, never mind, I've looked at your tactics trainer rating. I get it.
Victor Korchnoi called the chief arbiter over in a game in his second match against Karpov and asked if he can castle in the currect position. It would have been a legal castle, but Korchnoi asked. We all make mistakes, ratings dont mean you always understand the rules, or will always make the right decision.

This question came up in my local chess club the other day. A bishop was attacking the a1 rook and his opponent castled 0-0-0. To be honest, I wasn't entirely clear on the rules either, since I haven't seen many positions like that.
I think the confusion lies in the fact that castling is considered a King/Rook move, and not simply a king move. So, people interpret the "passing through check" rule as including the King and the Rook.

Gesh, look at all the know-it-alls rejoicing over someone rated higher than them making a misstake. Clap clap, we are all impressed with your castling knowledge, now stop being dicks about it. He would still beat you in a game.

Fair enough CPawn. Lord knows I've made plenty of mistakes. You're probably right, as usual.
It was not personal BP, its just that was the first thing i thought of when i read your post. And lets not get carried away with the "you're probaly right..." thing. If mistakes were gold id be richer then Bill Gates, and those Saudi sheiks combined.

This is exactly true since a rook can not be in "check" he is allowed to move through or on too any space occupied by any peice. A king however can not move through or onto any space being directly attacked by an enemy piece in any case not just castling!

ok
I see the point, never looked at it this way.
I used to think castling was possible only if nothing in between king and rook was striking it, now it seams in this situation, the king isnt hindered only the rook was. Pretty odd situation, and so i thought the site was making an error.
And just to some of you i'm far from mister wise guy, its just that i thought the computer who performs control here made an error, well not only computers make errors as it seams also people like me.

Lol you spelt illigal wrong. Next time, find a truly illegal move, like moving a Rook diagonally, or moving a piece that's pinned to the king due to check.
lol
