If your just beginning dont play bullet and blitz-you can learn the game in five minutes-chess was not made to be learned like that way. Play a lot of correspondance games where watch and study your game and slowly move into standard games with a high time setting-learning chess can't be rushed and play the tactics planner on this site.
I'm not improving, advice?
Real nice, someone's legitimately looking for advice here. If you can't be constructive why post?
The annonymity of the internet allows the e-thug to come out in some of us.
'us'. Are you including yourself as a potential e-thug?
I try to only e-thug it up on amazon.com during holidays.

Not sure I have any clue what that means. Do you bully people into buying The Way for their teenage children?

Im the bully buyer for amazon. We specialize in t-shirts, leaning left, not smiling, and wearing pants that are to big.
I had a look at 3 of your games; all 3 had unsound dropping of pieces (by both sides) and very limited tactics employed. The best way to improve 200 points quickly is to start seeing and using some tactics, and the best way to do that is to do chess puzzles (solve for mate in 3 etc). Get Lazlo Polgar's book "Chess" - 5000 puzzles (you'll never get through it in a year) - and fairly cheap in paperback. It will get you seeing more, which is what we all need!
And dang it, play some defence!! Quit giving pieces away! Oh yeah, and have some fun!
jacob27612, don't let the negative posts here get you down, if you like the game, and follow the good advice here, you will improve. :)
And A_L_I_V_E, i think it's really mean of you to troll someone who is clearly asking a sincere question...you aren't doing anything to encourage an aspiring player.
As i've said before, your tiresome obnoxious divisiveness is, imho, much more of a liability than an asset to this site, and now you are picking on an 800 player who has taken the time to seek the advice of his fellow club members.
The truth is that u will not get better by posting a thread topic that seeks advice from the morons on these forums. These forums are filled with mediocre to below average to terrible players.
say from a computer playe and you can't beat sexy-sunshine.

btw your engine is not very good.
Just keep playing Jacob and ignore the negatives. I've learnt the most from the games I've lost, pretty much imitates life, take some risks but not crazy ones! :)
A_L_I_V_E, perhaps i spoke too harshly before, and it's certainly not up to me to determine who's an asset or liability to the site.
The point that I'm trying to make is that people roasting each other in good fun in threads that are more of that ilk, is ok, and to a certain extent your "tuff luv" approach is kind of funny.
I also notice that you can be quite articulate when you want to be.
It's just that the OP is new to the site, and I think this is his only thread.
He may misinterpet your banter and get dicouraged, which isn't fair to him.
Gratuitously dissing someone for not having the highest chess rating, when they've never done anything to you, in a serious chess improvemnt thread, seems vituperative.

This. Nothing but truth.
