Impossible to beat Computer

No my child... When the computer makes your moves... You ALWAYS lose... You've got a lot to learn
Computers get better at the game every year, but then human masters are getting stronger as time goes on as well. We'll see that, as time passes, high level chess matches will end more and more in draws, whether human vs human or computer vs human.
But humans will always make mistakes (including silly ones) and overlook something every now and then.
Unless the time will come when chess geniuses are created genetically, like 16-fingered concert pianists ;) That would let the human vs machine race go on

I took a summer job as one of those chess computers once. Let me tell you, it really sucked. Things are sure looking up for the future with those new-fangled digital watches and microwave ovens. I have bright hopes for the future of computer chess.

Very interesting hypothothis Vibovit! Chess geniuses created genetically! They should also create microchips to be implanted into .... "regular people"! I might consider getting one of those:)

Today, there is a hidden cadre of chess experts in the himalayas who are wired up to all the chess computers created, and they make the moves for the so-called machine. It amazes me how gullible some people are. Chess machines! Bah! This trick has been perpetrated on the public since the 1800's and people still fall for it.
evidence, purhaps .... hand it over

no it isn't
never say that to a grandmaster
chess, in my opinion is the greatest game of skill ever!!!

isn't the newest deep blue pretty much invinsible? i mean fischer could easily beat it but no one else can i don't think.

computers are still in their infancy - parrallel processing using Quantum technology will provide the means to build unlooseable chess computers - Tic-Tac-Toe games are not looseable if both players know how to play and do not make any mistakes - the way forward for us humans is to learn to use our "minds" in more productive ways - do we want to continue our selfish motivation to be slaves of our own technology? - the last frontier is not "out there" it is "in here"
the point is, if you are equipped your self with a compter, and use him properly (consult when necessary, and make your abstract choices then, which are never accessible to him - I mean the compter), then YOu are unvincible, and inparticualr can beat any other computer.

i see a time, where one line will be cracked to the finish, and everybody will be playing chess only by memory, and chess games will be decided only by who choses the right pawn at the begining!
that sucks doesn't it, i bet there will be a convention who will vow not to play the winning line, and as more and more lines will be cracked, the only uncracked line shall be the amar opening, and all real chess games will begin with it, but alas, this hell for the chess player is not enough, they will crack that one too, and chess shall be lost and forgotten...
i sure hope not :)

I doubt chess can/will be solved in the near future... besides... what if after 300 years of in depth analysis they get 75% of the way to solving chess... and then they change the en passant rule again :P.
The thing is evry time a new chess engine is made some openings are refuted ( refuted = found out how to counter attack the opening) Example = chinese dragon was refuted by GM Emil Anka. It will go on till chess is refuted because white will always win because it has a tempo up.( a one move more than black)
