Improve Openings

Study opening principles and remember busts to trappy anti-positional openings such as 1.d4,e5 2.dxe5,Nc6 3.Nf3,Qe7 4.Bf4,Qb4+ 5.Bd2 or 1.d4,Nf6 2.c4,e5 3.dxe5,Ne4,a6 as well as best play against the Grob. Not just memorization, but understanding so even if you're taken off a path you didn't memorize you'd still have an understanding of what to do. Black is still in the game after the second line I gave but it's known as the line that gives black the most trouble in the Fajarowictz (spelling?).

you should really look in some books, but i would reccomend grunefield /black d4 nf6 c4 g6 nc3 d4 and ruy lopez and petroffs defense

what.
Just what a 1400 needs, the Grunfeld, which will take months of hard work to prepare for to a decent level.
The ruy lopez and petroff are ok, as long as he doesnt really look past move 6 and has a general understanding of plans.
I do not think I know theory for any of my opening lines once I reach them. I know the plans though so i do quite well.
My recommendations are:
Ruy lopez as white, you can learn a lot from the Ruy.
Petroff against 1.e4, you get it on move 2 and its easy to learn.
QGA against 1.d4, like the petroff of d4. Occurs on move 2 and you do not need any theory past move 6.

You shouldn't resign if you lose a piece in the opening. Since pawns are worth more in the endgame, it means pieces are worth less in the opening.

what?
So because pawns are worth more in the endgame, which theyre not always, pieces are suddenly worth less in the opening. which means he shouldnt resign?
huh?

Hi all, i was wondering how i should improve my opening theory. if you have any suggestions, pls notify me.
...
also, i lost 4 of 9 game of the world open, and 3 of the lost 4 were because i hung pieces during the opening.
...Hello. I think this means you need to learn to not hang pieces. Even if you learn 15 moves deep into the main openings, as soon as your opponent makes a weird move or you reach move 16 you will drop a piece
If you want to study openings, study opening principles not opening lines. By studying opening principles I've been able to play openings very well even if I don't know the exact theory.
In my last game I didn't remember the opening theory after move 4. However, by following opening principles I was able to play the first or second most common move until move 10.
This is not the opening's fault if you hang pieces...opening study won't help. Be more accurate, and check if your opponent attacks your pieces or not.

my endgame and middlegame strategy's rating is about 1400, but my opening rating is about 1200
how should i improve?

i was 5-2, but i lost my last 2 games because of opening. and random trades
Stick to basic opening principles : pawns in the center, develop your pieces towards the center, castle into safety, look for opponent's threats (checks + taking material).
If you can't apply them in your current games, play longer games.

Blaming openings for loses, again? I don't understand why players put so much effort into openings.
Well, studying 1 or 2 openings won't hurt.

Alterman Gambit Guide is quite good. I think the black number 1 (Black gambits against 1. d4 and 1. c4) is far too much theory for players rated under 1700, but the white one (Alot of gambits after 1. e4!) is fine. It shows how to play a gambit, opening principles and such things.
i think it is because i play too fast. i was up a pawn, but then hung a night using what appeard to be a "pin"
i think after Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.d4 exd4 6.cxd4 Bb4+ 7.Nd2 Nxe4 8.O-O Nxd2 9.Bxd2 Bxd2 10. Qxd2 I am winning because after pawn pushes, i have better pieces and blacks bishop is bad

I think you should make a mistake on purpose in your opening, and invite your opponent to take advantage of it.

Yeah. The OP said they are stronger in the middlegame than the opening. So their pieces aren't worth much in the opening.
