Improving beyond a point

Hi,

I've been playing chess for approximately 2 and a half years. At first my improvement was very rapid and then it kind of tapered out. Is this common? Has anyone managed to push past their plateau? If so, how?

i started last November. first my blitz rating went down to almost 400, then it climbed extremely quickly to 900 after watching a few videos on chess on youtube. then my bad bullet rating went to 1100. and now im kinda stuck and i think it's going down slowly...

well for starters i would recommend stopping playing bullet and play longer time controls even if you find it boring initially. it will get interesting later.
