Do some puzzles and analyze your games to see what kind of mistakes you are making. Also chess.com has great beginner lessons but you might need to get premium to access those videos. Check it out.

Play the computer here, start at your rating then work up to 2-300 points higher.
After joining chess.com I am excited to play but hard to think, I am losing every single match because of the checkmate, staneling, etc, the short question is... How do I improve my chess rating and my skills?
