In Condemnation Of 'Long' Posts... or not...

I suppose few of use read long unparagraphed posts. I don't.

Then there are the long rants that are amusingly quoted by the naysayer of that viewpoint with a one line put down. I never read long essay length posts on here. I just wonder what other's toleration limit is. At what point do people stop reading ?

Confusion!

I just don't understand why people are motivated to write essays. Too much work.

TLDR. Does that answer the question?

the less one writes, the fewer mistakes one makes.

The same goes for chess...

Thanks for the corrections. I hope to reciprocate your kindness now and also in  future   towards your good self...

You could have started your sentence with a capital letter. I wrote 'use' instead of 'us'. But I think my spelling of 'toleration' is correct. It just goes to show that there are none more intolerant than those who profess tolerance...

Yes, I know what you mean. I have the same view of posts that promiscuously incorporate quoted previous posts in their entirety from the same thread, a practice that has much the same effect frustrated.png

Part of my income comes from writing.  Sites like these are a good place to practice.  If I write a long post I try to make it genuinely useful, and not a rant or put down.  No-one is obliged to read them if they cannot summon enough concentration or just are not interested.

Part of my income also comes (indirectly) from this and I actually enjoy the process of writing. I too eschew put downs and rants, and prefer to write posts that are, I hope, philosophically interesting, constructive or entertaining. That said I'm sure I don't always succeed and I can fully understand why many readers might declare some of my posts to be "TLDR" or not wish to spend time on writing lengthier posts themselves.
