i wonder what the most serious injury has been from playin chess... i wonder if u could get brain freeze or somethin lol

I've heard of some pretty serious ones. Unfortunately the players involved did not come by their injuries "accidentally", but at the hands of overwrought opponents. The worst I heard of was a shooting on the west coast USA over a skittles game, during the 1990's I believe it was. And another case of hitting with a chair ... a good reason to use benches at the club! Read reported claims made alledging that one GM's father spoke to his son's GM opponent during a game, and offered to kill the opponent!? Yikes~! Well I wasn't there, and I don't know. But read that Nigel Short was being considered for the role of Victim in that one.

Give a trophy to GM's Tal & Miles (both Chess Greats now deceased; RIP) for guts and enthusiasm. 2nd Place, Mikhail Tal for offering to play his tournament game from his hospital room while taken ill during one tourney. But 1st Place definately to Britain's Anthony Miles, who offered to play his tournament games while lying on his stomach, strapped to an medical immobilizing board, while being thus placed in traction (... I believe for a spinal disorder)~! Would YOU be That "Game", that keen to play?!

Unfortunately, it seems that both requests were denied. A shame to see such enthusiasm thwarted ... and we can only wonder how Those games might have turned out ?!

Then there was the case of Brain FreezeCry, resulting in FIDE President Campomanes stopping the WC match of Karpov vs Kasparov Embarassed.  It is unknown to me whether the President's ever underwent Brain-Thawing . . .Frown  Wink
