Interesting experiment!!

This is going to be an interesting experiment.

I'll be taking on the role of Chessmaster 10th Edition. Think you can beat the world's best chess program? Challenge me to play.

It should be interesting to see how far can chessmaster progress as far as ratings are concerned. Will it end up being the highest rated player on the site? :)

World's best chess program?...ahahahaha. The experiment was to see if the thread will create laughter, correct? Complete success I'd say. =/

Joking aside, CM10 is nowhere near the best computer program. I've never even heard of it being talked of highly in comparison with the stronger programs. This may seem harsh, but this "experiment" looks like a ploy to allow computer use, and, besides, the site already has the option of playing a computer.

I think Chessmaster is ranked somewhere in the 2800+... So I don't know if it's the best in the world, but it's definitely very strong.

I've always doubted the accuracy of computer game ratings. This isn't based on anything but my own experiences. I've played a version of chessmaster on the PS2 (yes, I know that this is obviously a duffer compared to CM10) and the ratings were all over the place. Also, I beat someone that was rated about 1850, now this is not false modesty, but I'm not that good. I think that most people here feel that their rating on this site is slightly inflated (which I do) meaning that I must be about 1300-1400, at a guess. If you can get enough people agreeing that CM10 plays at 2800+, then I'll easy go along with it, but for now I remain skeptical.

sorry - using a computer in games is not acceptable. if you play any games your account will be closed permanently.
